Edward E. (Earl) Peregoy, Jr. left Baltimore, Maryland in 1954 to begin his Air Force career with Basic Training at Sampson Air Force Base, in New York. After completing Basic Training he was sent to Keesler AFB, Mississippi to complete the Basic Electronic and Auto Track Radar Repairman course. From Keesler AFB, he went to St Louis, Missouri and Det 6, 10th Radar Bomb Squadron as a radar repairman and bomb scoring crewmember.

From there he was assigned to the 564th Strategic Missile SQ at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming as a Guidance crewmember. He also attended the 7- Level Auto-Track Radar course at Keesler AFB and the NCO Prep Academy, F E. Warren, AFB. By then SSgt Peregoy was ready for a challenge and applied for and was accepted to Class 63A, Officer Candidate School beginning April 1962.

Earl’s wife Ginnie (former Virginia Kelly) and their 3 children arrived in Baltimore, MD and settled in with her in-laws just in time for Earl to start the OCS program. Ginnie was expecting their fourth child by then and as luck would have it the child was born during the June break. (Now this is a wife with good timing)

After graduation Earl attended the Intelligence Communication Officer Course at Goodfellow AFB, Texas. Subsequent assignments included (not necessarily in order): McClellan AFB, CA as Commander, USAF SS Detachment; Bremerhaven, Germany as Flight Commander, 6913th Security Squadron; Berlin, Germany as Flight Commander and Assistant Operations Officer, 6912th Security Squadron; Ft Meade, Maryland as Assistant Office Chief NSA; Tan San Nhut AFB, Saigon, Viet Nam as AFSSO with HQ 7AF; Goodfellow AFB, Texas as Assistant Chief, Services Division and Commander, HQ SQ.

Earl decided to retire on 1 December 1974 after 20 years service as a Captain. During his service he acquired 2+ years in college, completed SOS and earned The Bronze Star, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He and Ginnie also added four more children to the family before retirement.

At retirement Earl accepted employment as a Retail Sales Department Manager with the Wilson Catalog Show Room in San Angelo, Texas (1975-79) and in Real Estate Sales including time with Gary Hart R.E. Sales in Maryland. In 1986 he was employed by the Department of Defense as a Police Officer and firearms instructor at NSA, Ft Meade.

He retired from Civil Service in 1998 and has since worked for the State of Maryland, under contract in the Tax Section. Since retirement from the Air Force, Earl completed his Bachelor’s Degree (Physics) and added 2 more children (total 10) and has been teaching genealogy and photography courses. He and his family now call Baltimore, Maryland home.
