Paul G. Mallory, calling Salt Lake City, Utah as his home, entered the U.S. Air Force in 1953 at age 17. He completed Basic Training at Lackland AFB and was sent to Keesler AFB, Mississippi to attend the Aircraft Navigational Equipment Repairman course. Doing well in the course, he was asked to stay on as an instructor in Basic Electronics.

In 1957 he had a short assignment at Chanute, AFB, Ill for Mobile Training Detachment Indoctrination, followed by tours at Sewart AFB, Tennessee and Ardmore AFB, Oklahoma as an MTD avionics instructor. At that point he received his first and only overseas assignment as MDT Avionics instructor at Evreaux- Fauville, France.

Returning to the U.S. in 1960 he was again assigned to Keesler AFB where he completed the Airborne Navigational Equipment Tech. course and again stayed there to teach. In 1962 he applied for and was approved to enter in April 1962, Class 63A, Officer Candidate School.

He and his wife Carol and their two children moved to and settled at Lackland until graduation in September of 1962. His first assignment after receiving his commission as a 2/Lt was to Sheppard AFB, TX where he completed the Missile Launch Officer course.

Then he went to McConnell where he remained from 1963 until 1969 serving in several roles (533 SMSq-Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander and Instructor, 381 MIMSq- Site Maintenance Officer, and 381 SMWg – Job Control Officer).

He was then assigned to Offutt AFB, Nebraska with HQ SAC as Logistics Control Officer (Underground and Airborne Command Posts) 1964-1971, and while still at Offutt AFB, to the 2nd Airborne Command Control Squadron as logistics Battle Staff Officer (1971-1973). Paul’s final Air Force assignment was to Grissom AFB, Ind., with the 3rd ACCS as chief, Logistics Battle Staff Center.

Paul chose to retire in November 1974, as Major with 21 years service. While assigned at McConnell, in 1964 he completed the Titan II Combat Crew Operational Readiness Training, and in 1965 he completed the Squadron Officers School and the USAF COIN Course. Paul earned the Air Force Commendation Medal W/2OLC. He earned a Bachelors Degree in History and later completed almost two years of graduate work.

Paul and Carol had three children at the time of his retirement. He and Carol decided to separate and were divorced. Paul later met and married Phoebe who had two sons from a previous marriage.

As a civilian Paul worked with the Industrial Relations Council of Utah as a researcher; the Cable TV Company of Hemet, California as a Technician; the Amon-Ra Company of Beaumont, California as a superintendent; and also for the Bellevue Leader as a columnist in Bellevue, Nebraska. He and Phoebe have settled in Tyler, Texas.
